Camper FAQs

Allergies

Woodlands is a nut-free facility, including peanuts and pine nuts. Food services can provide substitute meal options for campers who require a gluten-free, dairy-free, and/or egg-free diet.

Parents with campers who have severe food allergies and are concerned about cross-contamination, or who have campers who are allergic to food dyes, or are on strict vegetarian diets may provide supplemental food or pre-made, cooked, and pre-packaged meals in serving size containers labeled for each day of camp for their camper. An allergy form must be submitted to food services at least two weeks prior to the start of your camper’s camp week. Email food services for questions.

Care Packages

Snacks and mail can be sent in care packages. Label care packages with the camper’s name and day of delivery. Care packages can be packed in the camper’s luggage or in separate bags to be turned in during camper check-in at the cabin. The camper’s counselor will deliver the care packages to the camper at a daily pre-determined time. Please limit the amount of candy and sugary drinks packed in care packages. Campers have access to candy and drinks in the retail shops during free time.

Life Jackets

All campers must complete a swim test. Those who pass will wear a wristband and may choose whether to wear a life jacket in the shallow end. Those who do not pass must wear a life jacket during all lake activities.

Life jackets are required for all swimmers regardless of the outcome of the swim test for blobbing, deep end swimming, aqua cycling, and boating.

Certified lifeguards are on duty during lake activities.

Lost and Found

Recovered items are held for one week following each week of camp. Unclaimed items are then disposed of. To initiate the process for attempting to locate the lost item, submit the Lost and Found form. If the item is recovered, Woodlands will contact you about pick up or mail options. The parent/guardian is responsible for costs associated with mailing the recovered item.

Medical

A physician’s wellness certification is not required to attend camp. The parent/guardian must submit the medical form for his or her camper at least one week prior to the camper’s arrival. The medical form can be accessed in the parent portal.

Xtreme camper waivers are required for off-site excursions. Email completed waivers to jpierce@woodlandscamp.org.

Medications

Woodlands requires that ALL scheduled or daily pill and chewable medications be packaged by a licensed pharmacist in Blister Packs prior to your camper’s arrival to camp.

If your pharmacy does not provide blister packs for camp, Woodlands partners with Woody’s Pharmacy in Dahlonega, GA, and Cleveland Drug in Cleveland, GA. Either may be able to assist you. Read more…

Woodlands’ health clinic provides basic over-the-counter medications including Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Benadryl, Tums, Robitussin, and Zyrtec. The clinic also provides first-aid items, so don’t pack these items.

Payments

Camp dates and rates are available on the Woodlands website.

You will pay your camper’s tuition directly to the church according to the time schedule communicated to you by your church group. You will NOT pay your camper’s tuition via the Woodlands Camp parent portal. Your church group is responsible for paying Woodlands the tuition for all of the campers in the group.

Spending Money

The Trading Post, ice cream shop, and coffee shop offer opportunities for campers to purchase drinks, snacks, and camp mementos. Campers may also give offering during chapel if they wish. A $10.00 store credit will be charged toward the camper’s balance at camp registration. The parent/guardian may add store credit to his or her camper’s account via the parent portal at any time. At the end of camp, any unused store credit will be refunded to the credit card on file in the parent portal. Please do not send cash with your camper.

The following weekly spending money amounts are recommended for traditional and Xtreme campers:

Pee-Wee          $20-$40

Junior               $50-$70

Junior High       $70-$90

Teen                 $70-$90

Roommates

May my camper room with a friend?

Yes, parents/guardians are responsible for requesting and accepting roommates in the parent portal. Siblings are NOT automatically placed together as roommates.

Each camper in a roommate chain may request 1 or 2 roommates and may be linked to a chain with no more than 6 campers maximum. If the number of roommates wishing to create a chain exceeds 6, the parents/guardians are responsible for linking their campers into smaller groups.

Why is there a maximum number of campers who can join a rommate chain?

Many campers do not know anyone in their cabin or at camp. A maximum number of campers in a roommate chain is enforced by Woodlands policy so that no camper is placed in a cabin with a large group of friends or acquaintances. There are no exceptions to this roommate policy.

Why can I no longer access the roommate request option in the parent portal?

Roommate requests and acceptances must be completed at least 14 days prior to the camp start date to allow time for the room assignment process to take place. Consequently, two weeks prior to the start of camp the option to make updates to roommate assignments will no longer be accessible or visible in the parent portal.
